What’s Haunting the Stafford Springs Palace Theater?
Join Dean Haglund (The X-Files, The Lone Gunmen) along with a celebrity panel: author and doll tender David L Sloan (Robert the Doll), “The Gentleman Psychic” Richard-Lael Lillard, paranormal investigator Tammie Merheb-Chavez (Hollyweird Podcast) and “Ghost Bait” Courtney Buckley for an investigation at The Stafford Palace Theater in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. David & Lisa Bacchiochi have been renovating the venue, which has withstood floods and fires since the late 1800s. Contractor Chris Young, who has been overseeing renovation helps remotely guide Courtney through the extremely active darkened theater.

ABOUT THE STAFFORD SPRINGS PALACE THEATER

The Palace Theater
The area that is now Stafford Springs, CT was renowned for its medicinal waters by Native Americans and settlers alike. Because it was right next to a waterway, Stafford Springs became a mill town in the early 1800s. Parts of the theater building could date back to at least the 1830s. And a spring is located in the basement. Before it was a The Stafford Springs Palace Theater, the brick building housed a furniture maker called G.W. Baker. At least one wall and parts of the basement date back to this time and possibly earlier.

Fires & Floods
The brick building has stood through fire and floods that devastated the town. A flood swept through the the little town of Stafford Springs in 1877. A severe fire caused damage to the whole block in 1883. After the building became a theater around 1900, there were at least two fires at the theater in 1906 and 1910.

Gathering Place
But the building was also the site of a lot of happy memories for the town. The theater was home to community gatherings, vaudeville, amateur shows, graduations, silent movies and eventually “talkies”. The theater changed hands and had many names including the Welles Theater, The Comique, The Woods and The Palace. When Steve & Lisa Bacciochi bought the theater, it was being used as a bar. It's no wonder that there have been so many claims of unexplained phenomena here.
