17 Spirits Haunt Miss Fanny’s Victorian
“It’s not just the house…it’s the land” The “17 Spirits” comes from an EVP that was captured at the house. The Victorian was rebuilt in 1860, after a fire all but destroyed Revolutionary War Era homestead Home to one of New York’s oldest families for centuries, the Van Wyck family. Owner Julia Drahos named the home after Fanny Van Wyck.

Rebuilt After the Fire
The Original Van Wyck Estate was around 120 Acres and dates from the late 1700s. The original house dating from at least the early 1800s burned down in 1859. Just the kitchen remains from that building. The rest was rebuilt by he Van Wycks in 1860 after the fire. There is a boy in the family plot who died in 1859 Julia wonders if he died in the fire.

Ghost Children
There have been reports of ghostly children laughing, as well at least one "Ghost Dog". Legend has it that a young girl who was scalped in milling equipment at their mill, now haunts the house. The family had a saw mill until around 1795.
